This is the most significant change that was made and has a very dramatic effect (see the before/after section). The corrugated fiber glass cover was removed and we designed a custom shape/size skylight. The entry wall was removed and the entire stairwell area was opened up by removing part of the wall between the two stairways. All new lighting and fixtures were installed. The stone stairs were covered in carpeting to create an 'interior' feeling as this was previously the outside

Here you can see the partial wall removal linking the space together (see the before/after section). The opening in the kitchen wall replaced the ugly window that previously opened into the old stairwell. The sconces in the lightwell provide up/down light that washes the skylight and walls in the evening.

This foyer is an addition of sorts to the house (see the before/after section). Previously the clients would enter a metal gate and walk through this area to stairs that led up to the front door on the main level above. There was a piece of corrugated fiber glass covering an open hole which let rain into this whole downstairs area. The outside metal gate was removed. We custom designed this door with sidelights to make an interior foyer and allow light to enter the space. The floor was leveled then tiled and the drain capped. All new lighting and fixtures were installed. A special niche for mail was designed. Previously, the mail slot was in the garage door so mail would slip through and fall to the ground. This slot accommodates larger packages and keeps mail off the floor and away from moisture.
